We are currently assisting amputees in the country of Bolivia.
During a recent visit to Bolivia in January 2011, founders Elizabeth Bress and Jeff Vonder Haar introduced Sending Out An SOS through many local TV appearances. Sharing Bress’ story and the goals of Sending Out An SOS prompted the Rotary Club La Paz- Centro de Miembros Artificiales to contact Elizabeth and Jeff with the intention of working together to help amputees in this country.
Since then, Sending Out An SOS has helped many Bolivian amputees receive much-needed prosthetics. This dream has been made possible through private contributions of caring individuals.
Centro de Miembros Artificiales is the only Bolivian non-profit organization building prosthetics at a low cost. CMA operates out of a small space where fitting amputees is a real challenge. Sending Out An SOS is prepared to help CMA’s founder, Matt Pepe, find a new location to help many more Bolivian amputees get back to society as productive citizens. Together, we will raise money through contributions to cover the costs of a new facility including overhead, raw material, salaries and all other related operating expenses.
